If you thought you knew all about what to do in the event of an acute illness or injury, something that is NOT life-threatening (and according to the CDC, over 85% of ER patients "could have been seen at an urgent care"), be prepared for an awakening.
1. If you cannot wait a few days or weeks to see your primary care physician, you can visit an URGENT CARE immediately.
2. If you don't have a primary care physician, you can visit an URGENT CARE immediately.
3. If you don't want to wait hours in an ER waiting room, you can choose to wait just minutes in an URGENT CARE.
4. If you have a high-deductible insurance, or indeed if you have no insurance, the URGENT CARE bill is significantly less than an ER bill. Surprisingly more affordable, and for the same if not more amount of testing and work-up.
5. If you need a specialty follow-up, it can often be arranged through an URGENT CARE.
6. If you're wondering why you don't see the VIPs and celebrities at an ER, guess where they're going...
