Downtown Medical (or DM) was established in June, 2009, after considerable demand from patients at Downtown Urgent Care. They were coming to the urgent care chiefly because of the convenient location (close to work) and so either had no internist, or had not been able to see their internist for months, sometimes even years.
The lack of ongoing preventive medical care is both risky, in terms of neglecting your health, and also a waste of the insurance premiums you're paying. Why do you keep health insurance, if you're not going to maintain your health, making sure your blood pressure, your blood sugar, your cholesterol profile are not getting out of control?
Dr. Sonny Saggar, who created Downtown Urgent Care, is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. As he was very often the physician who treated the DUC patients, he decided it was time to seriously address the demand for onoing Primary Medical Care, and Preventive Medicine, for a discerning population that works and/or lives in the Downtown area.
There are almost 13,000 people who now call Downtown Saint Louis home, and there are over 100,000 people who work in Downtown. Both these numbers have been growing at rapid rates over the past 5 years, especially with all the new attractions, services, events and happenings in the area. The business and residential community in Downtown Saint Louis has worked closely to create a desirable place to work and live, and that we can all be proud of, as Saint Louisans in the entire metro area.
Downtown Medical should be 'in-network' with all the major insurers; if we're not in network with yours, contact them about it and they'll make it happen. We will also administer preventive treatment, such as vaccines, and these are typically covered by your insurance provider.
Dr. Sonny Saggar will perform a meticulous history and exam, and address every single medical concern you may have, as thoroughly as possible. We want you to experience good medical care, the way it's supposed to be done. Of course, we'll ensure you get your routine testing (things like stress tests, colonoscopies and cholesterol panels), but we'll always make sure you feel we are easily accessible, and available to communicate with you, whether it's face-to-face, on the phone or even by email or text! We treat all our patients like family, and we firmly stand by this commitment.
